I'm trying to be like extra friendly to you guys

'cause this is really scary,

but it's not working on anyone so.

[Interviewer] Troye?

Yeah.

[Interviewer] We've brought you here today to take

a lie detector test.

Uh-huh.

[Interviewer] You'll be hooked up to the lie detector

and asked questions.

[Interviewer] Okay. Are you ready?

I think so.

I feel like everything is gonna seem like a lie

just 'cause I'm nervous.

This reminds me of doing to fill in.

[Interviewer] I'm going to start by asking you questions

to calibrate the machine.

Okay.

[Interviewer] Is your real name Troye Sivan Mellet?

Mellet, yeah.

Troy Sivan Mellet.

[Interviewer] Are you from Johannesburg, South Africa?

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, yeah.

[Interviewer] Are you ready to take

this lie detector test?

I'm ready.

[Interviewer] Let's start with your life.

You are the middle child of four siblings, correct?

Correct.

Yeah, there's two middle children.

[Interviewer] Would you say

you're considered the favorite?

I don't actually think so.

Yeah, I think my sister's the favorite

'cause she's the only girl.

[Interviewer] Does that bother you?

No, she's my favorite.

[Interviewer] As the middle child, are you the drama?

I'm definitely the drama.

I mean, I'm like,

I'm low drama in like a real way,

but I bring some pizzazz to the family for sure.

[Interviewer] So you never intentionally started drama

for attention?

No.

[Interviewer] You told a story on TikTok

about how you found out that your celebrity crush

is dating one of your friends?

Yeah. [chuckles]

[Interviewer] Will you tell us who your crush is?

I haven't actually spoken to my friend that he's dating,

so. Sure.

His name is Pierce Abernathy.

He's a chef.

I think he knows that.

[Interviewer] How would you feel

if he reciprocated your crush?

Well, I would feel bad for my friend who he's dating.

[Interviewer] Have you ever dated someone

a friend of yours has dated?

Yeah, but I dated them first.

[Interviewer] Would you call that upcycling?

They weren't my friend at the time.

We became friends through dating the same person.

My heart's racing.

[Interviewer] You've said your favorite food

is mac and cheese with ketchup.

One of my favorite foods.

[Interviewer] Would you say that is less questionable

than this person's ramen and hot Cheetos combo?

Ramen and Hot Cheetos.

You put the Hot Cheetos in the ramen?

Yeah, mine's way better than that.

Like that's disgusting.

[Interviewer] What about this person's love

of popcorn and pickle juice?

Popcorn and pickle juice?

That one I actually kind of get,

'cause have you ever had the almonds

that are pickle flavored?

They're really good, so I kind of feel like it's similar.

I get that.

I respect that.

[Interviewer] So you respect Selena's food combo

over Sweetie's?

Yeah, I respect that.

[Interviewer] Do you think having a weird favorite food

is asking for attention?

Yeah, but I don't like go around being like

I like mac and cheese with ketchup.

Also, I really genuinely don't think that's that weird.

Like it kind of makes it

like a pink sauce, spicy vodka pasta.

But like much worse.

[Interviewer] You've said that you were once catfished

by Russian hackers pretending to be this person.

Hmm. Yep. Greta Thunberg.

[Interviewer] Do they still reach out to you?

No. I still have the number saved,

but I don't reach out to her 'cause I know it's not her.

It's Russian hackers instead.

[Interviewer] Have you ever actually met Greta?

No. No.

If I did, I'd probably tell her about it.

I think it's funny.

[Interviewer] Have you ever catfished anyone?

No. People think that I'm catfishing them sometimes,

but I'm not.

[Interviewer] Would you?

No. I would like, you know,

I've definitely like filled in my eyebrows on Facetune

but that's like the extent of it, I would say.

[Interviewer] Is being catfished a fear of yours?

Mm. I feel like it's pretty easy to validate whether

someone's real. Like I'm not gonna, I was about to lie.

I was gonna say, I'm not gonna go

on a like a date with a complete stranger.

I would do that,

but I feel like I would at the very least

like get them to send me a video or something before,

so I can check that they're really who they said they are.

[Interviewer] Let's talk about pop culture.

You thought this person was calling you out in her song

Mine, but you actually misunderstood the lyrics.

Yep.

[Interviewer] Did you secretly know

that she didn't say your name in the song?

I did know that.

Yeah, I did know that.

I just thought it was funny.

[Interviewer] Does that make you a troll?

I guess?

Yeah

That's true.

[Interviewer] Do you enjoy trolling people

on the internet?

I do. Yeah, I do.

That's one place where I really like to lie.

[Interviewer] You're a Gemini and you've once said

that you don't care about astrology.

I don't, yeah.

[Interviewer] Is that still true?

Yeah.

Sorry.

[Interviewer] Do people who obsess over astrology

give you the ick?

A little bit.

A little bit, yeah.

Yeah. Sorry.

[Interviewer] Have you ever stopped talking to someone

because of it?

No, but like there's people that I know

if I see them it's gonna be, they're gonna bring it

up and I'm just like, I just don't believe in it.

So I'm, you know

it's a little like maybe like boring or something.

[Interviewer] You love interior design?

I do.

[Interviewer] Do you have a better eye for decor

than this person?

Better eye.

I prefer my eye.

[Interviewer] It's a yes or no question.

Yeah.

Yeah.

[Interviewer] What about this person?

I think she has a really functional eye, which is cool.

So no, not better.

Just different.

[Interviewer] Do you judge people by how

they decorate their homes?

Probably a little bit.

Like unintentionally.

Not in a snobby way, but like, you know

you're just taking in your surroundings.

[Interviewer] Do you like this person's house?

No.

No. I like him.

I don't like his house.

I'm sorry.

Sorry to this man.

[Interviewer] Is it true that you're launching

your own lifestyle brand?

Yeah.

[Interviewer] Do you think Drake can benefit

from your help?

Well, a lot of the stuff that we do is scent

and I'm sure his house smells great, even if I don't

like the way it looks necessarily, but sure.

Yeah. Yeah.

I'll put him on the PR list.

[Interviewer] You've collaborated with a lot

of female pop stars in your career.

Would you say you have a favorite?

I probably have a favorite.

[Interviewer] Is it this woman?

She's up there for sure.

She might be the favorite.

Yeah, I love her.

[Interviewer] What about this woman?

Oh

I love her.

Yeah, I didn't think about, I was thinking about singers

but I really, I love this girl.

[Interviewer] Moving on to your career.

One of your first acting roles was

as the titular role in the musical Oliver.

The character is famously known for stealing.

Have you ever stolen something?

Yep, I have steal, stolen, stealing.

I've stolen socks from sets and shoots and stuff.

And then actually quite recently I was styled

in a t-shirt that I really liked,

and I packed it in my suitcase,

thinking that they wouldn't ask for it back, and they did.

It was the only one, so I had to send it back.

[Interviewer] So it was easy for you to get

into character?

Yeah.

[Interviewer] Were you upset you got caught?

Yeah, I was upset because I love that t-shirt.

[Interviewer] That's all you've stolen?

I think so, yeah.

I don't steal.

It's not true.

[Interviewer] You just said you did.

I guess.

Yeah, I guess I did.

I tried to.

[Interviewer] You were in this person's campaign

for her Ivy Park collection with Adidas?

Yep.

[Interviewer] Did the queen call you herself

to ask you to do it?

Apparently, but I don't know.

Sometimes things like it'll come

through like management and everything and it's

like B would love you to be in the thing.

And I'm like, really?

But sure, I'll do it.

A hundred percent.

[Interviewer] Is it safe to say you two are besties now?

I don't think I could say

that we're besties without the machine going off.

[Interviewer] Are you going to her renaissance tour?

I would love to go to her renaissance tour.

I'm trying, her birthday show is like in LA,

so I wanna go to that.

[Interviewer] What do you do when she sings the line

Look around everybody on mute?

You go quiet.

The whole audience has to go quiet.

[Interviewer] Are you frustrated with everyone online

getting it wrong?

Yeah. Yeah, because people go quiet and then they clap

that everyone went quiet and like you ruined it.

[Interviewer] Your new single Rush is high

on the music charts right now.

Have you ever pulled a publicity stunt to promote your work?

Mm, a stunt I feel like implies that it's like not genuine

and I think I have always done, you know

everything's been genuine.

Maybe I knew

that it was gonna be something that got attention

but it was always real.

I've never like faked anything.

[Interviewer] Have you ever paid for bot streams?

No.

[Interviewer] What about followers?

No.

Why would I do that?

That's true.

[Interviewer] Have you ever dated someone

as a publicity stunt?

No. I've thought about it like I think it would be

kind of fun, but no.

[Interviewer] TikTok took your teaser

down for violating community guidelines.

What community guidelines did you violate?

I think it was a bum.

It was like nudity, like why not keep it up?

It's just a bum.

It wasn't even a whole, it was like half.

[Interviewer] Do you think TikTok should be thanking you

for being on their app?

Not really, no.

Yeah, I don't think so.

Not true.

[Interviewer] Is it true you've never had

any formal training as an actor?

I've had like two acting lessons maybe.

[Interviewer] Do you think you're a better actor

than some other musicians who also act?

Some of them maybe.

[Interviewer] Do you think you're a better actor

than this person?

Don't be who I want if this, oh no, no.

It's Lady Gaga.

I think she's better than me, for sure.

She's awesome.

[Interviewer] What about this person?

I have never actually seen.

Was she in Mama Mia?

I don't think I've ever seen a movie with Cher in it.

Yeah, I've seen like two movies, just in general.

[Interviewer] You walked in this person's Savage X

Fenty show and said it made you feel empowered.

Did you rock the show better than this person?

I didn't see his performance or what did he do?

[Interviewer] He performed.

He performed?

Yeah, I didn't see it.

Sorry.

[Interviewer] What about this person?

Oh. I don't remember seeing Gottmik in the show

but she probably ate me up.

[Interviewer] Would you rather win an Oscar or a Grammy?

Grammy.

[Interviewer] Is it because you think music

is the superior art form?

I don't think it's superior.

It's superior to me, for myself.

[Interviewer] Final question, did you lie at any point

during this lie detector test and we didn't catch you?

I don't think I did.

No, I don't think I lied.

That's true.

See, thank you.

Wow.
