Travis Kelce Credits UK Jersey Sales Surge to Taylor Swift and Deep Confusion

Whatever the reason, he thinks it’s “pretty damn cool.”

Looks like the United Kingdom is also hitching its wagon to the Traylor (working title). The relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce manifested what appears to be yet another ripple in the wider world, with Travis and his brother Jason Kelce discussing the sales of their jerseys across the pond.

In the latest episode of the brothers’ New Heights podcast, published Wednesday, the duo revealed that Travis’ jersey is the best-selling NFL merch in the United Kingdom, followed by Jason’s. The quarterbacks for their teams, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, ranked third and fourth respectively in jersey sales. Though Travis said the phenomenon was “pretty damn cool,” he also allowed that “it doesn’t make any sense. Either way, I’ll take it.”

Jason, however, had an idea of what may have boosted their popularity, despite football not really being a thing in the UK: “Lotta Swifties over there in the UK?” he asked.

“Gotta be,” Travis allowed. “That’s the only reasonable solution to all of this.”

Another idea from Jason: Maybe Brits think they’re…the same person?

“I think I’m only number two because a lot of people in the UK maybe just don’t watch football and they’re like, ‘oh, I heard this Kelce guy dates Taylor Swift, and they just buy my jersey on accident.’”

Travis, however, gave credit to Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, saying, “they’re all Kylie Kelce fans. Shout out to Kylie, shout out to Taylor, thank you guys.”

This isn’t the first time Travis Kelce’s association with Swift has moved the merch needle: After Swift’s first appearance at one of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s games back in September, sales of his jersey skyrocketed by a reported 400%. And in her TIME Person of the Year interview, Swift confirmed her stance on America’s game: “Football is awesome, it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

On the podcast, the Kelce brothers enthused about visiting the UK (and figured out what, exactly, the UK is), though it sounds like they may want to pack their own snacks.

"There’s a lot of clarifications for a bunch of white people that eat unseasoned food,” Jason said.

Travis also had thoughts: “Small portions, too,” he said. “Unseasoned and small portions. They just don’t want to fucking, they don’t want to put effort in. That’s what it is. They just want to get the job done.”
